Have you ever wondered if music could change the way your coffee tastes? Samson AKA Slick Barista (@slick_barista), a coffee pro with a deep love for both music and coffee, has been exploring just that. His curiosity took him to Colombia, where he teamed up with local producers to dig into how sound waves might influence coffee from start to finish—processing, roasting, and even brewing.
What Samson Discovered
-
Different Music, Different Flavors:
Samson and the producers played all kinds of music during coffee processing and storage, from high-energy beats to slow, low-vibration tunes. Amazingly, they found that the same coffee beans ended up tasting different depending on the music. High-pitched vibrations seemed to bring out fruity, acidic notes, while lower vibrations brought out richer, sweeter flavors. -
Good Vibes in Your Cup:
Samson has a strong belief that music can transfer emotions. The positive energy from upbeat music seemed to carry into the coffee itself, creating a brew that just felt happier.
Why This Works
Studies have shown that sound can change how we experience taste. Higher-pitched sounds can make things taste sweeter, and lower tones can make them feel richer. Samson’s experiments go a step further, showing that music can start shaping coffee long before it reaches your cup.
